How To Publish A Course With Adobe Captivate 9 And Upload It To Schoox

Schoox gives you a high degree of freedom on how to create a course. You can add lectures by uploading your own files, such as SCORM files (SCORM 1.2).

As first, prepare your one Course-Scorm containing slides, content, quizzes etc for Adobe Captivate 9.

In order to publish/upload this Course-Scorm on Schoox, please follow the recommended settings for Adobe Captivate 9.

Step 1: In an open project, select Quiz -> Quiz Preferences. The Preferences dialog box appears with the Quiz Reporting category open.

Step 2: Select Enable reporting for this project and then select the option "Other Standard LMSs"  in the LMS list.

Step 3: Select SCORM 1.2 from Standard option and then push the button "Configure". Then appears the window shown below:

You don't need to make any changes here. After clicking the "OK" button, the manifest file will be created.

Step 4: Set the Template option as Default and then select from Status Representation the option Incomplete -> Complete.

Step 5:  On the option Success/Completion Criteria mark the option Slide views and/or quiz, then select only the choice Quiz and from the dropdown menu select the option Quiz is Passed.

Step 6: From Data To Report select Percentage for the Quiz Score and also mark the option Interaction Data.

Step 7: At the textbox LMS Initialization Text press the button Advanced where the picture below appears:

Select only the first (Send Data On Every Slide) and the third option (Escape Version and Session ID) as shown on the picture above and then press the button OK.

Step 8: On the menu Quiz Preferences -> Settings set the Required option: as Required - The user must take the quiz to continue. You don't need to make any further changes here.

Step 9: Set audio settings. See the pictures below for details.

Step 10: Set the percentage of the total points that the user has to pass the quiz, allow users to have specific Attempts or Infinite Attempts and if you want the button Show Retake so the user can retake the quiz, mark this option. See the picture below for details:

Step 11: Before publishing to the LMS, you can check if the score has been set up correctly through Project -> Advanced Interaction dialog box.

In the example above, you can see three different Quiz questions and the Quiz Results. In order to get the correct results and get the sum of the points earned to the LMS, you have to make sure that the returned points (column Points) for each Quiz question are displayed correctly.

Important: To complete the Scorm-Course, the user must have passed the Quiz, otherwise the course will be marked as incomplete.

Step 12: Publish the project for Schoox LMS:

  • Select File -> Publish

  • On the option Publish as select the option HTML5/SWF, then set the name of the project-zip on the Project Title option and give the Location path where you want to save it on your computer.
  • Mark the option Zip Files.
  • On the option Output Format select both of the two options, SWF and HTML5 as it is shown on the picture above.
  • Mark the option Force re-publish on all slides.
  • Set "Flash Player" option to Flash Player 10.
  • Push the button Publish and you are ready to upload your Course-Scorm-Zip file on the Schoox LMS.
  • Mark the option Scalable HTML content to scale the size of the Scorm on mobile and the other options do not mark them.

You are now ready to go and upload your SCORM as a lecture to any Schoox course!

Alternatively, you can create a responsive project on Adobe Captivate with the same settings as above (step 1-10).

Clicking the button Responsive Project, shows you five breakpoints in which we recommend the following three default screen resolutions:

1. Desktop: Recommended Device Height: 627 px, Width: 1024 px

2. Tablet portrait: Recommented Device Hight: 627 px,  Width: 768 px

3. Mobile Portrait: Recommented Device Height : 466 px,  Width: 414 px

The final step is to publish the responsive project. Set all the options, as shown in the picture below and click the "Publish" button.

You are now ready to go and upload your SCORM as a lecture to any Schoox course!
