SCORM Best Practices

When opening and closing SCORM Lectures, we have a few tips for you that will help you have the best experience!

General Advice

  • Make sure you are using a stable internet connection.
  • Some SCORM lectures don't report the time until they are completed. If your lecture is not finished and you don't see a time recorded, this is likely the case.

Mobile Specific

  • Make sure your sound for media is on, otherwise you won't be able to hear the lecture!
  • SCORM lectures don't play well when multi-tasking on mobile devices. When you do want to open another app, or if you forget this and weird behavior occurs, close the lecture and reopen it later.
  • Use the app! SCORM lectures give a better experience in the app than they do on a mobile browser.
  • If you still notice issues, try it on a computer. Some SCORM files just don't work nicely on mobile devices.

iPhone Specific

  • Ensure you have enabled all cookies and that cross-site tracking is allowed in the phone’s settings. You can do this following these steps:
    1. Go to Settings -> Safari.
    2. Ensure that Prevent Cross-Site Tracking is disabled.
    3. Ensure that Block All Cookies is disabled.

Closing SCORM Files

  • The course itself needs to be closed out for progress to save, not just the browser or device.
  • There is a Close and Exit button on SCORM lectures. If the SCORM lecture does not have an internal Close button, you can use this one. See: Improved User Experience when Exiting SCORM

Scorm Error Messages

  • We have collected some of the most frequent error messages, why they happen, and how to resolve it in the SCORM Error Messages category. You can take a look at them here: SCORM Error Messages

If you follow all these steps and still have unexpected behavior, ask your manager, or if already a manager, contact our support team.
