Total Score Missing on Performance Review PDFs for Templates With Weighted Category Groups

Some users are experiencing a limitation where the Total Score does not calculate on an exported Performance Review PDF when the review template includes two or more weighted, grouped top-level categories. Here's what we know and how to work around it.

Total Score Calculation for Grouped, Weighted Categories

When a performance review template uses a single, flat list of individual competencies with no top-level grouping, the Total Score calculates automatically and displays at the bottom of the exported PDF.

When a template instead groups ratings under two or more weighted, top-level categories — for example, multiple Performance Areas, or a mix of Skills and Goals sections, each assigned a percentage weight — the Total Score row on the exported PDF currently displays as a dash ("-") instead of the weighted result. This happens even when each category's individual rating displays correctly and the assigned weights add up to 100%.

Workaround

No workaround is currently available for calculating the Total Score directly on the PDF for templates with grouped, weighted categories. The individual category ratings and their weights still display correctly on the PDF, so you can calculate the weighted total yourself by multiplying each category's rating by its weight and adding the results together.
