Ιn Schoox, you can set rules for courses/curricula to be automatically assigned to users.
The procedure of creating Rules is described in the following article:
These rules can be found in the Automated Rules under the Administration Panel.
But how can we edit an existing Automated Rule for a Course or Curriculum?
Just find the automated rule in question, select the wrench icon and click on Edit.
The Edit button redirects you to the Advanced Assignment page where you can find the existing Rule and implement all the changes you wish.
After making the desired changes, ensure you select Set Rule to apply and save the updates.
Please note that when you save changes by configuring a new rule, the existing Auto-Assignment Rule will be replaced. Depending on the updates you make, this may affect users who were assigned under the previous version of the rule. Specifically:
Users who were assigned under the previous rule and still meet the criteria of the updated rule will remain assigned. In this case, the “Unassign when criteria are not met anymore” setting will continue to apply.
If the “Unassign when criteria are not met anymore” option was enabled in the previous rule, any users who no longer meet the criteria of the updated rule will be automatically unassigned.
Below you'll find some more examples of changes that may affect your users!
| Example | Rule Name | Rule Criteria | Result |
| #1 | Rule v1 |
- Unassign checked - AU A |
User in Above Unit A was assigned via Rule v1. He isn’t going to be unassigned when he won’t meet the criteria (based on the new version of the rule) |

Delete Rule button
If you select Delete Rule instead of Delete Rule and Unassign, only the automated rule will be removed. Existing training assignments will remain unaffected.
Delete Rule and Unassign button
Selecting this option allows you to delete the automated rule and unassigned the learners.
Unassign learners who have completed the course (or Unassign learners who have completed the curriculum)
If an existing automated assignment rule is edited and the previous version did not include the “Unassign learners who have completed the course” / "Unassign learners who have completed the curriculum" option, the updated rule will only unassign learners who have completed their training if they cease to meet the rule criteria under the new version (for example, due to changes in their organizational structure).
Learners who had already stopped matching the rule criteria while in a completed status under the previous version will remain assigned to the training. This is because they are not considered part of the updated rule’s scope.
