Understanding the Perception Gap

If skills (previously known as metrics) are enabled in your academy, and the Academy Admin has enabled self-assessments, you will be able to evaluate yourself on the available skills.

When both your manager and you submit an assessment for the same skill, you can use the Perception Gap to better understand the gap between how you evaluate yourself and your manager evaluates you on these skills.

Learn how to complete a self-assessment here: Completing the Self-Assessment as a Regular User

To access your personal perception gap dashboard, hover over Me, select My Dashboard, and then select Perception Gap

The perception gap only shows if both you and your manager have assessed you for this skill. You can see the average perception gap of all skills in the big bar on the top. Below that, the skills are shown separately, showing both your assessment as well as your managers' assessment.

Negative gap: Your manager rated you higher than you rated yourself on the assessment

Zero gap: You and your manager agree, and both gave the same rating in the assessment

Positive gap: You rated yourself higher than your manager did on the assessment
