Adding an Optional Course in my Curricula

Admins (and users with managerial permissions for a Curriculum) are able to set any Course as 'optional'. Please Note: The Curriculum will still be able to be marked as 'completed' if the user does not take your optional Course.

To make the course optional, go to the upper navigation bar and select Courses, select Curriculum Panel, then select Edit Courses.

Select the Course you would like to make optional, select Edit Course and do not select the checkbox that says 'is needed for curriculum completion'.


If you did not select 'is needed for curriculum progress' (aka optional) a note will automatically appear for the user under the course's title, informing the user that the course is "not needed for curriculum completion"(aka the user sees that the Course is optional).


Please note

  • If you did select 'is needed for curriculum completion' the user will not be able to complete the Curriculum until they take this Course.
  • If the user self-enrolled in the Curriculum/ Course this checkbox will always automatically default as optional, because the tool will not automatically select the check box 'is needed for curriculum completion'.
  • Either way, all optional and mandatory courses will always be seen in the employee's Dashboard.
