Schoox allows for coaching sessions with team members at a set cadence or as needed. This provides managers the ability to track their team members' strengths and areas of opportunity, ensuring they continue to grow even after training is complete.
In this article, we are going to walk through setting up coaching, starting with the basic settings.
Note: Please ask your Customer Success Manager about the Coaching Module as it will not be available in your academy without being activated.
Settings
Before leveraging the Coaching Module you need to make some choices as to how the module should function by default. You can do this in your Academy Settings.
Select Admin in the top navigation bar. Then under Your Academy on the left, Academy Settings.
Under Coaching, toggle the Coaching Module option to yes. Additional options will appear.
Set Recurring Target Period - This refers to the time frame these sessions should occur within. We have an article to cover Managing Coaching Targets and how to set them up.
Coaches with Managerial Permissions Can Create Sessions With - Do you want leaders to be able to create and coach only those that report to them directly (if I am a Unit Manager, those within my Unit, or a Head of being able to only coach those individuals directly in their Above Unit), or should a Head of Above Unit be able to Coach all the way down their visible Organization Structure?
Allow Coaches to View Each Other's Sessions - If a leader with the Coaching permission shares the same (Above) Unit as a co-leader, they can see previously performed sessions by other coaches.
Permissions To Coach
Once the module is turned on and the settings are in place, it is time to give permissions to the appropriate leaders in the organization. Head to the Admin tab and select Team Members -> Set Up Organization in the left panel. You can set the permissions for organizational jobs under Above Units. For custom jobs, go to Jobs and select Permissions. Note that you need to connect that job with an above unit first. (See: Defining Permissions per Job)
There are three permissions related to coaching.
- Coach: The user with this job can coach others. sure the desired jobs have the "Coach" permission turned on.
- Create Coaching Target: This lets the user set up a coaching target.
