A user may be reassigned with a course/ curriculum in 3 different ways:
- A manager manually reassigned the course/curriculum
- The course/curriculum was reassigned due to the course/curriculum settings
- The course/curriculum was reassigned due to an automated reassignment rule
In order to make sure that you'll be able to keep the best track of the assignments, expirations, and user progress, we suggest choosing only one of these 3 ways!
But How to select the best option? Below you'll find some useful tips for selecting the best option that will cover your needs! There main things that you'll need to take into account are related to:
- The population that you want to be impacted
- The certificates that will/ won't be awarded
- The way you want possible future edits to be handled
- The Compliance dashboard, in case your course/ curriculum has been marked as Compliant.

If you want only the currently enrolled/ assigned users to get obliged to retake the course/ curriculum, then the Oblige to Retake Rules will be a better fit for you! In the case of Certificates, if you have defined that the course progress will be reset upon certificate expiration, this will also affect the unenrolled/ unassigned users. | |

*For example, if a certificate is set to expire in one month, you can change it to expire in zero months, i.e. remove the expiration date. In this case, any past completions that were removed from the certificate’s expiration will also be restored. This feature can currently only be used to remove the certificate expiration date, not to make it sooner or extend it. Also, it restores completions for users who have been expired due to the cert expiration.
NOTE:
If a user earns a course certificate and then drops out of the course, they won’t be automatically reassigned the course when their certificate expires. Instead they’ll get a notification that their certificate has expired and their progress will be reset.
